Shades of Gray...

I am having trouble with this one. I want to post about it, but every time I try, I start stammering and foaming at the mouth. I am sincerely happy that this man is no longer the Mayor. I find it rather shameful that 1: The Tribune had no problem printing his article 2: He wished the Tribune to print his article. Usually when I spew copious amounts of drivel and insult people, I hope no one heard or remembered what I said. Cuz I was drunk!

4 Old Comments:

Someone I talked to wondered the same thing. Did he read his column yesterday and think "Omigosh, what have I done?"

I doubt it. I think this man truly believes he is smarter and better than the rest of us.

Condescending is an understatement.

How sad... I felt sorry for this man after reading his "opinion." He truly believes that he was the target of an organized effort to remove him from office. For the record, I was not "recruited" by anyone or any entity. I just got mad, and marched myself down to the elections office.
Prior to filing, I made 2 phone calls. I called Owen Robinson, a longtime friend and President of the Board of Directors of Great Falls Development Authority. I asked if he would support my candidacy, and he was enthusiastic. Then I called Kim Thiel-Schaaf and asked her to be my campaign co-ordinator. She said yes, and I filed.
Mr. Gray sounded very paranoid in his opinion piece. He intimated that I had "professional organizers." I did not - I used the expertise I gleaned from 20 years in the advertising industry to plan and execute my campaign. He relied heavily upon his friends in the dead tree media (aka the Great Falls Tribune.) I placed most of my campaign dollars in the electronic media, utilizing TV and radio. If anyone is interested, I can supply the rationale behind my choices. I advertised ONCE in the Tribune, an endorsement ad, listing individuals supporting me. I you read that list, you will find a broad spectrum of local citizenry, with a sprinkling of tavern/casino owners and employees.

The bottom line from where I sit - I ran a smarter campaign, worked harder to win, and people were tired of a mayor who failed to listen and connect with his constituents.
That being said, I am choosing to look into the future, rather than scavenge in the manure pile of the past. I will continue to post on various blogs - I enjoy the "alternative" print media here and the informed give and take I have found.
Bless you all, and have a wonderful New Year!
